Finally an experienced psychiatrist with personal experience with OCD tackles the taboo topic of Christianity and OCD. Ian’s writing is easy to read, yet well-written with a thorough review of relevant historical facts that keep the young reader interested. His review of the lives of Luther, Bunyan and Saint Therese has inspired me to look further into their own autobiographies. Ian also intelligently reviews contemporary treatment approaches and the pivotal role God has in the life of those with OCD. Highly recommended reading for historical education, empirical reviews which support statements and evidence-based treatment.

This new book on OCD detailing how Christians can turn to God for help, is a needed contribution to the publications currently devoted to OCD sufferers. With examples of Christian giants who have suffered with and consequently felt delivered from much of their OCD due to their faith, it gives hope to those of us living with the condition today. I would definitely recommend this book to all Christians with OCD and to all providers as well.

This book should be really helpful for anyone trying to integrate their faith with their treatment plans for OCD. The review of the three lives of Luther, Bunyan, and Therese are well done and demonstrate how difficult and painful OCD was for them. The summary of their answers to this challenge long before psychiatry posed solutions is solid and helpful. The recommended steps in the final chapters can really help individuals integrate their faith with solid treatment principles.
